The 3rd Biennial of Valencia makes it possible for the whole world to observe valencian sea through Internet, on the website of the project: “Mirando al mar” (Looking out to Sea), a work of the artist Marusela Granell. On the website www.valenciamirandoalmar.com you can observe the Mediterranean Sea day and night in real time from any place of the planet with access to Internet. The proposal of Marusela Granell converts Valencia into a unique city of the world where you can observe the sea using the means of transportation and now you can also have a window open at home or at work to the Mediterranean Sea.
The project called “Mirando al mar” (Looking out to Sea), sponsored by “Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo” (Mediterranean Savings Bank), consists of several very large screens installed in 6 strategic points of the city of Valencia. They bring us near to the image and sound of the sea in real time. The travellers passing by the airport of “Manises”, Central Bus Station, North Station of RENFE, or the metro platforms of Alameda, Xàtiva and Colón, are direct witnesses of the proposal of the 3rd Biennial of Valencia. Now, thanks to technology, the web is converted into a vehicle of the beauty of Mediterranean Sea.
The initiative of Marusela Granell forms part of the 3rd Biennial of Valencia whose central exposition “Reflexiones de un Pez en el Mar Profundo” (Thoughts of a Fish in the Deep-Sea) can be visited until 30th November. The exposition situated in the Convent of Carmen exceeding 20.000 visitors has a participation of 44 international artists presenting their artistic reflections about the topic of water. The Convent is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. and between 5.00 p.m. and 21.00 p.m.
