The ephemeral ice sculptures of the Swiss artist Olivier Mosset, that you can visit only during this week, is one of the principal attractions of the Arts Biennial III of Valencia, inaugurated last Saturday in the Convent of the Carmen.
The Arts Biennial III of Valencia had over 1.600 visitors in the central exposition on its first day, yesterday (Sunday 25th September). The exposition is called: “Thoughts of a Fish in the Deep Sea”. The number of visitors reflects an important social support of this cultural and artistic event developed under the title “Water, without you I’m not“.
Among the performances of Valencian artists taking part in the inauguration of the Biennial you can find: Cari, of “Equipo Límite”; Fuencisla Francés; Charles Albert of “Color Elefante”; Ramón Polit; Jarr; Ramón de Soto; José María Iturralde; Horacio Silva; Blanco Añó; Amparo Tormo; Vicente Guallart; José Cosme; Teresa Cháfer; Marusela Granell; Francisco Sebastián Nicolau; Ángela Vassano and El Persa.
School visits
Next week, the Biennial is going to start having organised visits of pupils of the Valencian Community. It is planned that a great number of pupils aged between 10 and 13 years will become artists. They will be the ones who design the image of the next Biennial in 2007 through a didactic itinerary in the exposition and creating works of arts on the topic, later on, in class.
After visiting the central exposition of the convent of the Carmen, the students will be absorbed in the culture of water through a visit in boat in l’Albufera. The didactic objective of the Biennial of Valencia has had a great support in Valencian schools. The teachers in charge quickly fixed the date to go and see the Biennial’s artistic offer with their pupils.
The museum opens Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. and from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. The entrance fee is 3 Euros, with discount for students, retired and disabled people etc. On Sundays the entrance will be free, on Mondays, as usually in the case of museums, they are going to be closed to the public in order to have maintenance works.
